Brother can you spare me some change....

This post has no photo...nor should it. James was sick not too long ago. Consequently he had the privlege of ginger ale. Bubbled drinks are an uncommon occurance here at the Rooney Ranch. Well, Conner was very envious of Jimmy's drink, so he walks up to me and says, "I swallowed a penny. Can I have ginger ale now?" After the initial shock I questioned him enough to realize he did indeed swallow a penny. This was on a Thursday evening. I called poison control and found out this is a fairly common thing and since he evidently swallowed it without impairing his airways, I would have to wait up to seven days for the penny to pass. After seven days I should seek medical help. Then poison control gave me instructions on how to catch and check for the penny. Conner was mad and decided to hang onto his penny. He refused to go until Saturday. I made a good catch (DON'T ASK!) and was able to verify that the penny had indeed passed. Conner insisted on seeing it. The child is super gross. As I was preparing to clean up, he says, "Hey! I want my penny!" Needless to say I held firm and the penny is now in safe keeping in our septic tank. My life is never boring.

Will's tooth....

My little superhero lost his first tooth. I should say first legit tooth. He lost one last winter after bonking his face on another child's head. That was the upper tooth, which I fear may be a long time in being replaced. He did lose the bottom one. He said, "Mama, my cereal is hard." I looked over and his tooth was missing. So, just like Caitlyn, the first tooth was swallowed. At least the tooth fairy understands! He is also quite anamored with the hero costumes that Jen sent to us! Way to go Aunt Jennifer!

Out of the Mouths of Babes...

Cleaning out the van is a tiresome chore. The kids help for about three minutes or until they throw one item in the trash. While "working" away in the van one of them bumped the lights that are on the ceiling, knocking the plastic switch off. We had just had the battery jumped because of boys leaving dome lights on. So I searched the trash (yes, I went dumpster diving) and then the ground all around. I was in the process of delievering a fine lecture on taking care of motor vehicles when I found the small grey switch. I yelled, "I found it!". Caitlyn calmly crossed her arms and walked away saying, "Well, crisis averted." I couldn't talk for about five minutes.

Rooster Review

I am two days too late in posting this. We had a group of ten free ranger roosters. Today we have seven. We will miss Blockhead, Flapper and SnowShoe, they were very showy and beautiful birds. It will be my mission to shoot the coyote responsible for considering our barn yard a buffet. In the mean time, these are our remaining roosters: Sven, Krum, Cochin Joe, Percy, Charlie, Flathead and 'Zilla.

Conner thinks he can swim!

While Grandma was visitng the kids went to swim with her in her hotel...Conner decided that he didn't need any help and tried on his own! I don't think he'll be swimming the English Channel just yet! Despite several sinkings and mouthfulls of water...he still thinks he can swim!!
